Summary of Duties: The Computational Materials Scientist will be responsible for database creation, management, and evolution, data analysis and reporting, and advanced computational platform development and implementation (Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence) to assist with R&D. This person will utilize statistics and/or predictive modeling to identify the most agile and viable research pathways for materials and biotechnology R&D. Additionally, this person will manage all company databases and advanced learning platforms. The Computational Materials Scientist will report to the Director of R&D.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, data science, or other relevant field of study with at least 5 years of work experience in computational science.

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, data science, or other relevant field of study with at least 15 years of work experience in computational science.

 

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to build and own Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence platforms from inception to implementation.
  • Skilled with modern computer science/software engineering practices such as code development and optimization, continuous integration, structured and unstructured data processing, etc.
  • Experience building and maintaining database platforms such as Microsoft Access.
  • Experience using Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence on platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Citrine Informatics, MATLAB, R, Python, and/or IDL.
  • Experience utilizing statistics and advanced computational tools to develop predictive models of materials’ properties from candidate product formulations and performing designs of experiment (DoE) analyses.
  • Foundational knowledge of materials science, chemistry, and/or biology with corresponding laboratory experience.
  • Oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to communicate with a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well within a diverse team of scientists, production staff, and management personnel.
  • Ability to work within a face-paced environment with dynamic objectives.

 

Preferred Competencies:

  • Foundational knowledge of building materials and their corresponding ASTM standards.
  • Developing and applying new computational software models, tools, libraries, or frameworks to solve complex scientific problems.

Compensation: $125,000 per year DOE with benefits available
