Headed by a clean-tech veteran and co-founded by a team of renowned scientists and engineers from the University of Colorado Boulder, Prometheus Materials is helping transform construction into a zero-carbon industry.
Loren is a serial entrepreneur, founder of six tech companies, four of which were based on tech transfer agreements and founder of e-Chromic Technologies (an energy efficiency electrochromic window and film company based on technology from NREL). Loren has five exits generating $375M in shareholder gains, raised $190M in funding, led 17 M&A transactions and one IPO filing.
Leo is a leader in sustainable design products and sustainable construction. He has over 25 years of experience in the building materials industry. Leo has successfully developed and deployed a number of innovative sustainable products. Previously, he worked in aggregates, concrete and precast building materials within several sectors of the industry.
Stephen is a passionate, metric-driven scientist with interests and training that intersect biology and chemistry. He earned his PhD at the University of Kentucky where he studied natural product biosynthesis and synthetic biology approaches for producing valuable chemical compounds. Before joining the Prometheus Materials team, Stephen worked in the pharmaceutical and agricultural industries which provided him with diverse experiences and a wide range of skills.
Vaughn has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing and construction with both startups and large corporations – including modular, scaled supply to OEM customers. Vaughn promotes safety, quality and efficiency in production environments. Vaughn is named on a number of utility and design US patents.
Dakota is a passionate scientist specializing in computational chemistry, drug discovery and materials science. He earned his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh where he focused on advancing machine learning (ML) and modeling techniques for novel materials discovery. His primary research focus has been on modeling chemical physics to enhance the capabilities of AI/ML tools for property prediction of molecules and complex systems like proteins and materials. In addition to his multiple publications in the chemistry AI/ML field, Dakota has also created software tools that include a molecular representation Python library for the chemistry AI/ML space.
John is a leader in materials characterization, analytical research and product development. He earned his PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Physical Chemistry where he designed, built and deployed two new instruments to support climate change research initiatives. Additionally, John has led R&D teams within the polymer processing and manufacturing industry, established multiple government materials science analytical centers and served as a fundamental research program manager within the Department of Defense.
Civil Engineering, Co-Director of the Center for Infrastructure, Energy and Space Testing (CIEST) at CU; Mija is an expert on degradation and damage of construction materials due to aging and its impact on structural performance. She has 40+ published articles in the major mechanics and engineering journals and has authored an international recommendation for predicting concrete creep and shrinkage. Mija is a co-inventor of Prometheus Materials’ core technology.
Alaina is an expert in microalgal cultivation and strain enhancement. She holds a PhD in Applied Chemistry from the Colorado School of Mines, where her research centered on engineering microalgae and refining cultivation techniques for sustainable product development. Alaina earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland, then worked at the National Institutes of Health, where she scaled vaccine products from research to production. With her background in bioengineering and microalgal research, Alaina is passionate about advancing innovative sustainable technologies.
Rob is an accomplished marketing strategist, creative director, graphic designer and copywriter. Like his expertise, his experience is wide-ranging – spanning an array of markets and media in both creative and executive roles. Rob is the founder and President of Page2, LLC – an active marketing, advertising and creative services agency.
Materials Science & Engineering Program and Architectural Engineering at CU; Wil is an expert in structural engineering and materials science of polymer- and cement-based materials for building and construction applications, with a specific emphasis on novel living cementitious material systems. He has published 100+ peer-reviewed technical journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings and is the holder of two US Patents. Wil is a co-inventor of Prometheus Materials’ core technology.
Ashten is a subject matter expert in advanced composite formulation development. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Georgia Tech and has been developing commercially available materials for over eight years. Ashten combines a deep understanding of chemistry and materials science to design sustainable, high-performance products.
Lauren Magnusson is a Scientist with over 15 years of experience in the bioprocessing field. Specializing in sustainable solutions and climate change mitigation, Lauren has led high-performing teams, driving product development from ideation through execution. A notable achievement includes scaling filamentous fungal fermentation for meat alternatives from 10L to 25,000L. Previously, Lauren worked at Meati Foods as Senior Manager of Fermentation R&D, where she spearheaded process development and brought multiple products to market. Before that, she worked at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL), where she led innovative projects in gas fermentation and algae-based bioenergy production. Known for strategic planning and team leadership, Lauren has been recognized for her contributions to process innovation and commercialization.
Maeve du Toit is the Director of Finance at Prometheus, where she focuses on scaling environmentally sustainable solutions through innovative financial strategies. With an MBA in Finance and Sustainability, Maeve has a rich background in structured finance and startup growth, including leading a successful ERP implementation of Oracle R12 for a U.S. entity. Prior to joining Prometheus, she founded a water conservation startup and served as Senior Supply Chain Manager for Native Instruments. Maeve’s keen attention to detail and strategic vision enhance both the financial and operational health of the company.
Jaclyn Gruber is the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Prometheus driving the company’s branding and positioning toward wide-spread adoption and environmental impact. A seasoned marketing professional, Jaclyn is also the founder and CEO of Ivy, a creative studio & marketing agency known for creating conversion systems and bespoke customer experiences. Ivy’s partnership with Prometheus aims for global impact, accelerating the world’s future to carbon negative.

Joško is a partner at Sofinnova Partners – a leading European venture capital firm – where he focuses on industrial biotech strategy. Joško sits on the boards of Metgen, Comet Bio, DNA Script, Biosyntia, DMC Biotechnologies, Pyrowave and Protera Biosciences. He is a mentor at BIRD Incubator, which helps entrepreneurs in software, data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Prior to joining Sofinnova Partners, he was part of the investment team at iNovia Capital and founded an internet startup and a software company.
With over thirty years of proven experience authoring and implementing visionary urban architecture, Vishaan Chakrabarti is the Founder and Creative Director of Practice for Architecture and Urbanism | PAU, where he leads the firm’s growing global portfolio of cultural, institutional and public projects. Chakrabarti is the author of the highly acclaimed book, A Country of Cities: A Manifesto for an Urban America (Metropolis Books, 2013), and the upcoming book for Princeton University Press entitled The Architecture of Urbanity: Designing for Place, Pluralism and Planet.
Jeff Cameron was a man of unwavering integrity, a visionary whose brilliance shaped the future. As co-founder of Prometheus Materials, he envisioned a greener world powered by science and sustainable technologies.
In addition to his work at Prometheus Materials, Jeff was a dedicated professor at CU, inspiring and leading students with his passion for discovery. His areas of expertise included renewable energy, photosynthesis, carbon fixation, molecular biophysics, and bioimaging, fields where his knowledge and mentorship left a lasting impact on the next generation of innovators.
His deep understanding of chemistry and complex environments led to the co-invention of Prometheus’ core technology. Jeff’s contributions have paved the way for a carbon-negative future, and his legacy will continue to inspire progress toward that vision.
He is survived by his beloved wife and four children. Jeff, you will be deeply missed, and we will honor your legacy in everything we do.
